What started as a way to support more technology in the classroom, led to a student-run, state-of-the-art program

#Technology Campaign

Every day we hear stories about how not enough African American high school students are studying science, technology, and math. Three years ago, Milwaukee Collegiate Academy decided that it was time to do something about it. It all started with an idea. Milwaukee Collegiate Academy needed to bring more technology into the hands of students to support its groundbreaking, personalized learning model. Through community support and fundraising, the school raised enough money to provide Chromebooks to every student. The twist? Students would be the backbone of technology support for our one-to-one school. The Technology Ambassador program gives students a chance to learn new skills, gain experience in technology, and help keep classrooms connected. Perhaps even more importantly, the program provides mentoring opportunities and leadership experience to students.

GOAL: $10,000 to provide the technology needed to support personalized learning at Milwaukee Collegiate Academy. Please call Principal Judith Parker for more information at (414) 983-4014.
