Dear Parents and Families,

As you have no doubt already heard, this afternoon, Governor Evers issued an order mandating the closure of all K-12 schools due to COVID-19. Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy will be closed starting Monday, March 16, 2020. School is scheduled to resume after Spring Break on April 14, 2020. Should that change in any way we will communicate that via email, social media and on our website at https://fullercollegiate.org/information-on-coronavirus-covid-19/

Dr. Howard Collegiate Academy will continue to monitor the information shared by public health officials in an effort to protect the health and well-being of our students, their families, our staff, and the community. It is important to stress that there are no known cases of COVID-19 in our school at this time.

While this is a break from school, it is not a break from learning. Scholars will work from home so that learning can continue. Weekly assignments will be distributed and due starting March 23. If you do not have Internet access, Spectrum is offering free Wifi to homes of students who need it. Paper assignments will be available for those who need it. Also, students who receive special education services will receive specific instructions about how to log into chat boards with their teachers so that they can continue to receive services.

We need parents’ help with three things:

  1. Please update your contact information so that we can contact you directly with updates. Survey Link: https://bit.ly/3aS0zEK
  2. This weekend, your student is expected to log into and complete assignments in both ALEKS and NEWS-ELA so we can determine who can work from technology and who will require paper assignments.
  3. Monitor your child’s use of technology as they are spending more time online. Have them show you what they have accomplished each day and make sure that their outgoing and incoming communication with others remains safe and drama-free.

If during this closure your family needs help or is in a temporary living situation or is homeless, please complete a Counseling Ticket to tell us what kind of help your family needs. Students can also  complete these tickets to get help. Please, click here for information about homelessness. To submit a Counseling Ticket, please click here.

Please look for important school updates this weekend and information about community resources.

If you have questions, please email me directly at j.parker@fullercollegiate.org

Once again, I am grateful for the patience and support of our families as we work with local, state, and national authorities to make decisions in the best interest of our scholars, staff, and the greater community. Stay safe and healthy.

Educationally Yours,

Principal Judith Parker
