Our Culture

Milwaukee Collegiate Academy’s mission is to send scholars to and through college. Because of that, we aim to not only prepare our students for success in college, but in the real world. We know that in order to be successful, our scholars must not only be good students, but good citizens as well. Therefore, we seek to nurture our students through our three pillars: Character, Achievement, and College.

Character

Our 8 character traits are zest, love, gratitude, optimism, self control, curiosity, social intelligence, grit. These traits are woven into our Pride curriculum and students that display these traits are celebrated with Friday Morning Shout Outs, awards ceremonies, and special events. The 8 character traits are a fundamental part of how MCA teaches scholars to meet and exceed expectations set for them in and outside of the MCA community.

Achievement

MCA seeks to help our students develop their love for academic achievement. We do not believe in simply passing classes, but mastering material in a way that makes the world more accessible for students who traditionally are on the lower end of the achievement gap. We push our students to excel through hard work and multiple chances to prove that they are indeed mastering what they are learning. Because achievement is important to us, we celebrate it continuously. Students who make honor roll are awarded special uniform shirts, and all extracurricular activities require students to meet certain academic and behavioral expectations.

College

We believe that an emphasis on character and achievement will be an extra push for our students to exceed in college. Because being accepted, attending, and graduating from 4 year institutions is the goal, we make sure to continuously message college for students who have often been told that it is not attainable for them. Our hallways are filled with college memorabilia, the Prides are named after colleges, and every Friday students and staff wear college gear to celebrate the goal. Alumni return annually to discuss their college experiences, and in the spring we celebrate where the graduating seniors will be attending college with Decision Day.
