Scholars in Ms. Vurusic’s Street Law Course participated in the annual Wisconsin State Bar High School Mock Trial competition on February 14.
Using facts and case materials developed by Wisconsin attorneys, students gained a deeper understanding of the court system as they developed their arguments and built their cases. Students had the opportunity to: analyze and prepare a case; present as a witness; argue their assigned role; receive input and feedback from attorneys and judges.
Both the A-Day and B-Day teams each won a round and were recognized by various county judges and attorneys for their excellent participation as witnesses and attorneys in this year’s case. Students reflections revealed that the mock trial opportunity provided them with a chance to practice their oral presentation skills, build confidence in public speaking, and overall provide them with a unique and memorable senior year experience.
